I took this portrait of us together on my old Nikon 5700. I used the in camera B&W mode and hung a black blanket on the wall behind us with gaffer tape... the room was lit only by the window and it was an overcast day if I remember correctly...

It was a serious attempt at being a serious photographer... seriously.

I gave her the disc for her 28th birthday (the day these were taken) ... she printed this one up and gave it back to me as a break-up gift.... (We parted as friends, there was no acrimony)

Consequently I don't have the original files any more.... but I do treasure the moment.

Tip for all those mid 40's guys.... hang on to the 20-something girlfriends for as long as you can... or until just before the wife finds out.....

Nice composition. The contrast is somewhat harsh resulting in blown highlights and areas of total black. I understand you didn't have too much control over that and I accept that.

Cheers guys... it was very much trial and error Cal... there were other shots that had less blown highlighs... but weren't as good .... I will have to say that its a "woman's choice" photo out of about 20 that we did....

... and no there were no others taken in a more comfortable room with less clothes!!!.. before anyone asks...
