This first one I just did a convert to gray scale, crop, and used auto correct all, then a brightness and contrast adjustment. Funny thing is, it looks way better like this than it's original color. Of course due to the overcast, the color almost looked monochrome.

This was taken during a light rain. It is a basic green shot I used RGB on again. The green channel gave me this kewl contrast, some of the trees turned out almost white, some dark. Not sure about this one because in Monochrome it appears a little busy.

On the second, I am curious what the red channel looked like. I think it might yield more contrast. You might also try split to CMYK. The black channel probably won't be too good but take a look at the other three.

In the first image, what is "auto correct all". It is my experience that those kind of tools introduce more problems than they fix.

Also, can you please show the color images.
