Bob,

Except for the shadow just to the left of her nose great job.

The BW adds another dimension not found with color.

The shadows on the face are rather harsh. A reflector held to the left side would add some light to the face and reduce the impact of the shadows. Mild fill flash might help but flash, even the smallest amount, shows in portraits and tends to look artificial.

The reflector could be a sheet of white posterboard, a piece of foil wrapped around a piece of posterboard, or something similar. There are some commercial reflectors that are portable, inexpensive, and fold (curl) up into a very small space for storage. I have two. One is about 15 inches in diameter (expanded) and is white on one side and silver on the other. The other is about ten inches expanded and is silver on one side and gold on the other. They both fit into small pockets in my camera bag. A good camera shop should have these or check B&H Photovideo.

I like this one Bob. I enjoy seeing pictures of people and their pets.

Good idea too, using one picture for both the monochrome and portrait challenge.

Thanks guys! I agree on that shadow, I just made a reflector using styrofoam and taped some crinkle up foil, I hope to try it out this weekend.
