his name is "Daniel"( my nephew). Name is written on the left side on his father insistence.( Hope calr won't mind, for I could not place his original pic. except for the name rest is remains untouched)

Hi Mcliu. These are nice photos of the children but they are not portraits, in my opinion. A portrait generally shows just the head or head and upper body. It is a closeup shot.

A likeness of a person, especially one showing the face, that is created by a painter or photographer, for example.

By this definition even a blurry underexposed snapshot can be a portrait. However most photographers would agree that the word "portrait" implies some lever of pre-visualization if not planning and direction,

There are many kinds of portraits. Including formal portraits, casual portraits, environmental portraits, group portraits and yes full length or full body portraits. And on and on. Portraiture is by no means limited to "close ups" . In fact IMO the close up is the least interesting type of portrait which reveals far less about the subject.

I would call the second image a portrait. But the first I would call a snapshot. Others might disagree.
