I'm glad I returned in time to catch the tail end of this subject. Although I haven't been actively participating in the forums, I have been taking pictures...lots of them in fact. Just came backfrom a trip to UK with 6 gb of images (and lost a 2 Gb card full of pictures...bummer!). Bought myself a Sony R1(BTW, the best camera I've ever had) and am having lots of fun with it. Image quality is absolutely superb.

Anyway, here are a couple of images converted to monochrome. The firstis a view of the London Eye,a piece of architecturemost English people dislike due to its modern looks clashing with the old surroundingsand the second takenon the streets ofChester.

I'm working from my wife's laptop (wireless) this morning and the angle of the screen is really affecting the contrast of these photos. I really like both. The Eye is most impressive, especially noting the construction features, operational methods, and history. You have captured it well, especially Spiderman and the ominous storm clouds in the background.

The street shot of Chester is also excellent. Do you have the color originals? What conversion method did you use on these shots?

Hi Cal, thanks for your comments. Here're the originals. I used Picasa B&W with filter (RED to increase the contrast between the blue sky and the clouds). The same with the second image but using GREEN filterto keep the red bits strong (like the phone booth).
