What was your conversion method. Although there appear to be no blown highlights in the color photo, there are many in the BW. Perhaps a different method or if the effect is adjustable, a lower level would be better.

I definitely like the colored version better. As Carl pointed out, there are many blown highlights in the B&W image. I think it's over-sharpened also. But, the main problem converting this image is the fact that there is no specific focal point. On the colored version, the green tones of the water and the color saturationapplied tothe rocks make the scene quite an appealing one. However, these details can not be shown/seen in B&W, thus the need for something else to make it work (a bridge would have done the trick).
