This may not actually qualify. It'sbacklit, just not directly behind the sun.

This was taken a month or so ago when I was on a "photo safari" with Canon reps.I recently won a first place ribbon at a fair with it.

Well that kind of a backward backlight! The light source is on the opposite side of your subject so it definitely qualifies. Besides, as others have said already, it is a beautiful shot.

Great colors and nice composition. Now, considering how dark and well saturated the sky is, it appears that the light source is coming from the side but it's hard to tell. In any case, it is a great image!

Thanks, Tullio. Actually, I guess you'd consider it sidelit as the sun is off to the right. But, I liked the way the sun shone through the petals and put a shadow on them when viewing from the bottom.
