Beautiful shot, Bill. I see some haloing around the tree trunks, especially the one on the left. This could be caused by oversharpening. No need to fix it--just something to look for next time.

You caught me Cal. I did a quick adjustment in Picasa instead of opening it in Elements and the sharpen in Picasa is an edge sharpen not a USM. I really wish they would put a USM in Picasa because I usually ony do contrast, sharpen, resize before posting and it's much faster to do it in Picasa.

Bill, I got a free copy of Picasa from Wolfe's a few years back. I tried it out and immediately deleted it from my computer and trashed the CD. 'nuf said!

Nice image. I took some of Bostonfrom the airport before sunrise this morning. Not sure if they came out as I never made it to pick up the photos this afternoon.

Hope mine come out halfas good as this. Lovely.

Cal,

You should try it again now that Google has it. When combined with Picasa Web Albums it's a powerfull tool for archiving and sharing your photos, and it's free. I opted to pay a few bucks a year and I get a ridiculous amount of space to store my photos on-line. Sure, I use PS for serious editing but I take so many thousands of pictures and I don't like to spend a lot of time organizing them. I'm unusual though, in that I don't worry a lot about whether I loose a few shots here and there. I've just got so many pictures and I'm too interested in the next one I'm going to take to spend a lot of time on the ones I've taken in the past.

Lovely shot. I use Picasa all the time. It's a great free software, perfect for quick editing jobs. However, the sharpening tool is very very limiting. I find it to be way tooaggressive. It would be real nice if the folks at Google implemented some sort of slide bar to control the amount of sharpness applied to the image.
