This is a silhouette of whale back light house situated between Portsmouth, NH and Kittery Maine. The foreground is a silhouette frameon the beachand probably doesn't apply as a silhouette but the background is the silhouette of the lighthouse. Tiny I know but I loved the picture anyway. The water appears a little blown out but it looked that way to the naked eye as it was a bright sunlit morning.

I posted this before I saw that NHMOM posted the same light house. Sorry.

No need to worry about posting the same item I did. Yours is different.

This came out real nice. I like it. Mine is very plain.

It is an interesting shot but it looks pasted together. Is this a composite of two images? If so, it does not qualify for this forum.

It is not a composite. The painter frame is on the beach situated to frame the lighthouse.

I like the concept, how was this metered? I can't tell how the silhouette has such a great contrast compared to the foreground rocks/grass that are still detailed

The lighthouse appeared black all morning until we got a lot closer and I zoomed in. At that point you could just barely see that it was built with grey stones. I'm still fairly new at photography so I haven't learned much about light metering. I set my focus point on the light house and the picture is the result. My camera is a Sony H5 rather than a DSLR but at my level of expertise it works for me. I've attached another picture of the light house cropped and enlarged where you can seea little the detail a little better.
