Wife and Dughter came home saying, "You see that big spider out front"?
Saw the web in the sunlight and immediatly thought about this here.

But just so you know there is no macro prowness going on here. I took it with about 3/4 zoom from about 10 feet or so away. Cropped down to the spider. This is NOT the photo it came from, this is just to give you idea of what I was shooting.

Cool shot (even though I hate spiders)!

Very nice. I wonder if she was building or repairing her web.

When I looked at the first photo, I thought there was no backlighting or silhouettes. However, the second photo clearly shows the scene is backlit. The light on the tree trunks shows that.

Great work although I, also, don't like spiders. I don't hate them, I just don't like them and their webs!

Cal

When my wife found one in our bed the other night, she didn't call me in to photograph it, backlit or not. So, Cal, I find myself in agreement with you, although this is a wonderful shot of a spider.

Those legs being that bright red and yellow is because of the back lighting. Without it the legs are rather dull looking. Since this guy (or girl) is about 4+ inches across, it was no suprise the body was not back lite also.

You can just keep him/her right there in Texas! Nice shot, although, spiders are definitely not something I like.

Yes, but this one stays out of the hoiuse, and pretty much out of our way, and it even catches those big tree roaches and eats them. I don't get up close and personal with them, but i don't mind them eating the bugs.
