I just returned from a trip to Niagara falls. My first picture is of a cargo ship making it's way through the Welland Canal taken from a tiny tiny tiny (I cant say that enough) 3 passenger plane. The second is a cable car that carries passengers over the Niagara Whirlpool in the Niagara River. On theright portion of the pictureis another form of Niagaratransportation the "Wet Jet" boat that travels upriver from Niagara on the Lake and on the return travels through the "DevilsHole" a level 5 rapid. YouDO get wet.

Before I read your description closely, my eye was drawn to the "Wet Jet" boat in photo #2, and I couldn't help thinking, "What kind of fool is in that boat down there?" :G I would love to take that cable car, but I can't imagine being in the boat.

Was #2 also taken from the "tiny" airplane? Both are excellent shots, but I definitely like the second best.

The second shot was taken from the viewing deck of the tram. Thewhirlpool below the tramis rated as alevel 6 rapidand even the jet boat doesn't attempt it although it does hover very close to it. One person who went over the falls in a barrel was caught in the whirlpool for over 30 hours before the barrel could be rescued. The lady didn't survive though due to lack of oxygen. She brought her dog with her and he wisely put his nose in the air hole and blocked all the oxygen. Maybe too much information but that is the story.

Nice aerial shots. I also had the opportunity to be at the Niagara Falls area recently and those boats are definitely driven by suicidal monks.

Love the second shot.

The serenity of the water in the first one where you can see the shadow of the smoke from the ship against the whirlpool of the second is amazing.

Too wild for me. I'm glad it was you and not me. You can just show me the photos!:-)

I like both shots. The first is a great shot of goods being moved over the water. The airplane counts as transportation, also, though it sounds like you might not agree with that!

What got my attention in the second shot is the unusual tram. I've seen a number of trams and ridden a few but none like this. Two things strike me as being unusual. First, it is open air. Most trams are totally enclosed to prevent people from accidently or intentionally exiting the car. Second is the grill work at the top. I don't know if that is functional or just decoration. Most trams have nothing above the carriage wheels and cables.

The Aero Car wasdesigned in 1913 by a Spanish engineer and has been operating since 1916. Perhaps the early design year accounts for it's different structure.
