TCav's hint of a Navy CH-53 Sea Stallion just "forced" me to go a couple of my son's shots while he was on duty with HC-4, headquartered in Sigonella, Sicily. Both of these were taken with a little Sony Cybershot in the summer of 2003. The first is of an MH-53 on takeoff (I think during the G-8 in Geneva).

Although the second is technically not as good of a photo, I find it more interesting. He took thisone from one of the birds flying in formation as they approach the coast of England in rain and fog.

There's always rain and fog as you approach the coast of England [suB]:-)[/suB]. This looks relatively clear. Great shots, btw.

I totally agree with everyone else. Excellent shots. I am surprised they would allow a personal camera on a military mission.

I don't have any photos from him when they went on combat deployment in Kuwait, for the very reason to which you allude. Generally, they were not too restrictive on some of the peacetime missions. The England deployment was on a goodwill/airshow visit, and the Switzerland deployment was a logistical support mission for the G8 summit.

When he came back from Sicily, he brought me a couple of CD's worth of shots from training missions, from Sicily, and from other places his squadron visited.
