This fungus attacts and over time kills the tree but the fungus still grows. The stump is about 3 ft in diamater and broken off about 30 ft up.

Wow,

Quite detailed. Yes, eventually these fellows will gracefully dilapddate the tree atom by atom, molecule by molecule, etc...

There's beauty in the manner it uses.

Welcome back, Philby. Haven't seen you around here for awhile.

Nice shot. Although the dilapidation is not directly visible, any parasite sucking life out of a tree is going to bring it down.

I haven't had much time to participate in the challenges lately but I have kept them in mine whenever I go out and shoot. I came accross this tall stump in my wonderings.
