part of the old gun emplacements at Fort Stevens, near the mouth of the Columbia River. the fort was deactivated after WWII, and is now part of a state park.

When I first saw this photo, I knew exactly what it was. I've been to Ft. Stephens several times and have camped at the Fort Stephens State Park campground a couple times. On at least one visit, there were a group of VFW people doing a reenactment of some of the activities at the fort. They had authentic uniforms, guns, and even found some old military vehicles to use in their exercises.

There is a lot to see at Ft. Stephens. There are some old railroad cars, a "pop-up" cannon that being restored, a beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean from atop one of the cannon sites.

Thanks for sharing this, Squirrel. Dilapidated, indeed!

Wow, reminds me of some shots of Alcatraz in one of the Dirty Harry movies.

Haunting shot.

Aloha
