This is actually a little early for our peak color, but I'm hoping the mountains will cooperate before the challenge is over. Meanwhile, this tree in our yard is starting its transition. (I have no idea what it is....any help is appreciated.)

I don't know what it is either, but it looks like something I photographed weekend before last. In my case, however, the leaves were all red and the cluster of ???? was brown. It was a bush, not a tree, as I recall.

Nice work.

My wife thinks it is a variety of sumac. I looked it up and found that some varieties do grow as small trees...which this is.

Nice composition. Probably also means it's not edible.

It sort of resembles the sumac that we have up north. In the falls, the leaves turn a deep scarlet and the berries are purplish black. Good photo.
