We live about 100 miles from the center of the White Mountains in New Hampshire. They aren't as grand as the Rockies or the Alps but they're my favorite place anywhere around here. This is a picture of the scene outside the window of my camper last week - the Saco River in North Conway.

This is - I believe - Mount Madison. In this area the mountains are named after presidents and are called the Presidential Range.

I know what you mean about the winter but I think that's when the mountains are the most spectacular. A cold morning with a brilliant blue sky andwhite snow on the mountains just can't be beat for beauty.

Those are really great shots. I have always envied people who live in the east and northeast for the spectacular fall colors.

Wow, photo 1 is so vivid.

Photo 2 shows just how many colors those trees can have.

Very nice.
