I don't think anyone who knows me. or of the occupations of my son and daughter-in-law, would be surprised that the first shots I post in this challenge will be of helicopters. The bird in these two shots is somewhat historic.....the last to fly as a member of the now-decommissioned "Black Stallions" of HC-4 of Sigonella NAS, Sicily. That squadron has been absorbed into HM-14 in Norfolk, VA, and this helicopter consigned to the hanger for a ground-up rebuilding.

Taken this summer in Norfolk. (Son is in white.)

Same helicopter as in #1 with my daughter-in-law, the Navy jet engine mechanic.

Cool, Paul. That first one shows how large it is, but that second one with your daughter-in-law really makes you realize just how huge these things are.

I am not sure that bird is airworthy! With the tail section laying to one side, I don't think it is going anywhere fast. Nice shot of the daughter-in-law.

Wow, they're big. We're still flying 40+ years-old Sea Kings in Canada.

Shouldn't that floor fan in the first shot count as part of the Treasure Hunt #2? :-)

Yes it should, and so noted.

Actually, I thought about posting one of a Sea King (specifically, the President's helicopter, Marine One) that my son took in Geneva. The variant shown in this photo is a late 70's model, one of the more "modern" of the CH-53's. When my son left the Navy, he went to work as a tech rep with Sikorsky and he was supervising the rebuild shown in shot #1. He's now working in a similar job with another civilian contractor in Hawaii, and Alicia, who is still in the Navy, is attached to a squadron of M-60's. The 53's he's working with in Hawaii are the older models, a 1960's vintage.

I never even noticed the floor fan....lol.
