I was very lucky to capture this melancholic, almost tearful moment. I can't show the full head since the lense I had mounted was a tele-lens and I was way too close... but when I would have stepped back the moment would have been gone, so I took what I could get...

I postprocessed it to fit the melancholic mood. Enjoy!

thkn,

I concur with Bynx, well done. I am tad distracted by what appears to be a piece of fabric but even then surprisingly it didn't subtract from the intensity of the moment.

The fabric I believe is a teddy bear which the little girl is clutching close to her for comfort. It seems to add to the moment in my opinion.

You are right - there was a sad song playing in the radio about a little girl and her teddybear and that almost brought tears to my daughters eyes while she cuddled with her little bear. Maybe this little story adds even further to the special magic of the picture.

As for DOF and the eye: ISO800, 70mm, f=2.8, 1/100 and this is the best from 5 or 6 shots. I was very lucky to get that "it's all on the eye" thingie. I wish I'd be able to do such things on a more regular base... still need a lot of practise.

Thanks for the kind comments!

Great photo, I like the color conversion.

Hi thkn777!

Wow, an absolute gem of a photo. Very much filled and moving with emotion and speaking volumes about "comfort" too.

Well done for getting this. I'm glad you tried and took more than just the first shot... because often in challenging situations like this, one might stand out as "clearly better" than the others, even if the differences are VERY small (e.g. actual focal point, slight composition differences, etc)

Love it!

Paul

This is an absolutely beautiful shot. The teddy bear is a bit distracting but you have to accept some distractions with candid shots. You have done well, my friend.

Ooops,
missed your kind words, thank you. Well - to my mind the bear really adds to the picture, but that's maybe because I know the story behind. I just couldn't crop it away...
