Sticking with our Yellowstone theme, here are a couple of shots of Old Faithful. The first is from directly behind the Old Faithful Inn in the spot were most people take pictures from. The second one is taken with a more creative composition using a tree in the foreground to give it some scale.

Beautiful shots. Looking at these, and looking back at my experiences in Yellowstone, I realized that I spent much more time visiting the Northern and Western parts of the park than at Old Faithful. I think I've only been there twice and I've never been inside the lodge.

Is there some barricade to prevent people getting close?

Bynx,

There is no barricade aroundOld Faithfuland most of the geysers and hot pools in Yellowstone. Just a lot of signs saying stat on the path. The ground around the geyesers is unstable and one could step in the wrong spot and fall through, or just step on the hot ground and burn their feet.
