These two shots were taken quite a few years ago using a Minolta SRT101A 35mm camera. Both shots involve crystal containers filled with water and dripping food coloring into the water. No stirring or agitation was done before adding the coloring. The patterns you see are a result of the currents and eddies always present in any container of water.

In the shot of the pitcher, it looks like there was a houseplant behind the pitcher. However, there was nothing but bare wall there. It is just an optical illusion created by the lens effect of the water in the pitcher. It shows up in all the shots I took of the pitcher.





I posted a couple shots from this series for another challenge a couple years ago.

Very interesting effect The merging colors almost look like a lava lamp or something from the '70's:-)

Ahhh! Those colors!

For some reason I really like the colors in #1, but not in #2 /shrug. With the ornaments in the glass it almost looks as if there were some kind of plants growing in the glasses!
