Hello all!

I really loved the way these clouds interacted with the setting sun just as the large ship was there too, adding interest to the composition, Imho.

At the time of the photo I was aboard the "Spirit of Tasmania" travelling from Tasmania to Melbourne (a "day crossing" voyage). So it was a special moment... out at sea.

Hi Paul, thank you for looking and appreciating this photo!! It's being in the right place at the right time, I think that allowed the success with this...

Bob, wow - that's an honour that this is your favourite photo of mine to date. "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"! I really like the photo too... but must admit some of my other shots edge this one from no. 1 place...

Beautiful shot. I think the most spectacular sunsets I've ever seen have been from the deck of a ship. I saw really great ones in the South Pacific during the Vietnam era and more recently on two separate Hawaiian cruises.

There is something special about a sunset at sea. First off, you have an unlimited view with no obstructions. Second, the air is clearer at sea which helps to make the sunsets more brilliant.

Steve: Thanks for appreciating and for the ! Glad you like it.

Flutelady: Thanks for viewing and providing your feedback.

Cal: I agree, there is something special about sunsets (and sunrises) from onboard a ship or boat way out at sea. I worked as a sailor about 13 years ago for a few months in Europe. Great way to see a number of countries that way too... Unfortunately that was way before I ever had a digital camera. I had a $20 film camera, and some of the photos are still my favourites....

Do you have some you could share with us from your voyages, Cal?

Paul
