The shot above the clouds was from yesterday and the sunrise was last year.

Both pics worthy of the Hammitt name. How about posting a couple of your lousy shots so I have something to aspire to. :G

Thank you Bynx! I have waaaayyyy more lousy shots than good ones, believe me! I took up photography seriously when digital cameras came out. My main goal in life is to bat at least .300 when I go out with my camera. I try hard but have to admit luck still plays a big part what I get.

I'm proud to say I never take a bad shot (cough, cough).......

I don't know that I've ever felt so much a fool as I did the other day when I was trying to capture a lightning shot and I was just sitting with my camera on a tripod, clicking shot after shot at the same blank expanse of sky, hoping to get lucky. After deleting nearly a thousand photos of a black sky, I found two that had usable lightning. Batting .300 sounds great to me.

Two more good shots, Bob, but I love the second one. The reflection of the cloud formation in the water really makes this one jump out from the crowd.

I read in one of my books somewhere that a really good photographer can hope to have one truly great photograph in his lifetime. He can hope for one or two good photos per roll of film. (The book was pre-digital!)

In other words, if you don't get excellent shots everytime, you're about average!
