I got this shot today, after a day of clouds and rain, the sun finally made its appearance.

This picture is several years old, taken with my very first little digital camera. These are mammatus clouds--the word "mammatus" literally means "breast"--a pretty obvious description. These clouds look threatening, but are generally pretty harmless. They are seen after a thunderstorn as a rule. They really were that orange. The setting sun was turning them that color.

Both are great shots. I've never seen clouds like the ones in the second photo.

That second shot looks like cotton balls stuck to the cieling. Most unusual.

The first one is beautiful. The "sun rays" are probably an artifact of using a small aperture setting. It is refraction from the iris leaves. Wait a minute--aren't iris leaves green??
