A little different take on the challenge. The "Then" shot was taken by noted portrait artist Disfarmer in 1929. The Disfarmer prints have become objects of great historical interest and originals now sell in the thousands of dollars. For more background on the photography of Disfarmer, see below

http://disfarmer.org/mission.htm

I own the original of the print below because the shy subject is my mother.

The "Now" shot was taken about a year ago and is a candid portrait on the occasion of my mom's 80th birthday.

Interesting about the photographer Disfarmer, wonder if that old tin type of great grandpa is worth anything?

Your Mother looks very stylist and completely over her shyness. BTW she doesn't look anywhere near 80 years old.

Great photos. I have to agree with the others that your mom is a classy looking lady and certainly doesn't look eighty.

This is about as "then and now" as you can get. The now photo shows a lady who appears in perfect health and very active. I hope her health is as good as she looks.

Cal, she's far healthier than I. She walks a couple of miles a day and has been honored by her both her community and church for her volunteer activism (she probably averages about 30-40 hours a week).

Thanks to all for the kind comments. Of course, I have to brag on her since she's my mom, but she's a remarkably young 80.
