My first post for this challenge was of my grandfather's family farm. In this post, the farm is from my grandmother's family. The property was first settled in 1757 and as late as 1990 was still occupied by the Russell family.I'm no longer sure who lives there. It's only 30 or so miles from where I live but I haven't been there in many years. I keep intending to visit but I just don't. I don't know the age of the house but my g-g-g-g-grandparents were the original settlers and the next three generations of my grandfathers were all born there. This first picture is a postcard taken probably around 1890. There is no one alive now who can identify the people in the picture.

This shot was taken around 1990. At that time the farm was still occupied by Russell's. Above the fireplace was a gun that my third great grandfather carried in the Revolutionary war. Unlike the Smith family farm, the Russell farm has been well cared for over the many years. Over the barn door is a placard that reads Russell Homestead 1757.

Wonderful! We know from these photos that, at least for a hundred years, the place was spotlessly maintained. I love the stories that go with it. My families stores are all of movement as we made our way West across the Southern states. Thus, there are no homesteads occupied for more than a hundred years or so.

Thanks for sharing.

Good heavens, 1757, and it still being continuously used. I'm very impressed.

Very nice shot trying to recapture the same spot.

Thanks for sharing.
