Great shots considering this is that time of the year again. What is the story with the car? I notice its the same one as in the original picture. Also they have built a small wall since then and so the car remains there permanently. Is the motel used any more or is there more money to be made in charging a fee to see where the man died?

The Lorraine remained open until the early 80s and then The MLK Memorial Foundation bought it and it is now the National Civil Rights Museum. I am not sure about the cars, but I think they are there to recreate the scene for historical authenticity.

For those interested, the B&W is what King was looking at when he was shot supposedly from the top floor bathroom window of the rooming house in the background. Others suggest the real killer was in the bushes inbetween and scaled down the wall and mingled with the crowd after the deed was done. The colored shot is from the alleged bathroom window Ray took the fatal shot from.
