A while back, I took a trip up to Ohio to visit family. It was fall and I thought I'd get a couple of shots of the lake. I would like to submit this photo for consideration as a "Warm Color" picture.

The colors are, indeed, warm but appear a bit subdued. A bit of saturation enhancement would really help.

Cal

I appreciate your comment.I am just starting to play with enhancing photos via "Irfanview". I am always afraid that I have "overprocessed" an image. Is this more what you mean?

Well you've got the right idea but this is a bit too much saturation. I have no idea what the adjustment parameters are for saturation in Irfanview, but I would try reducing the saturation to something between the original and the current image.

Cal

I thought that might be a bit much. I cut my adjustment in half and this is what I came up with.

Personally Id go for the gusto. I like the saturated version so far. Maybe just a tad less saturation but certainly more than you have in your last version. The real colors are truly saturated and the washy colors you have so far just dont match the reality.

Thanks Bynx ...

I am always afraid that I go too far or not far enough. I was sure the 1st edit was over the top and I hope the 2nd has it closer to where it should be.

Mugmar ,,,

Thanks for the nice comment.

As I said, I am still trying to learn the ins-and-outs of retouching photos. I really appreciate the comments y'all make. It's about the only way I can learn.

Thanks

Dave, in deference to Bynx, I like the third image the best.

One thing to consider is does the image on the screen look like the real thing. You were there and only you knows exactly what the scene looked like. By tweaking the saturation, you should be able to match the original scene.

Now that I dont have the sun glaring in my monitor I see the colors are not so bad. The thing with the shot is it doesnt seem to be very sharp. It looks rather blurry. Id like it much better if it was crisper. Let me know when you are going back there and I will go with you. Looks like a nice spot.

I just downloaded your photo and it looks exactly as I would want it. It doesnt look exactly as it is posted on the forum. I wonder why that is? I just added a bit of sharpening. Nothing more.
