Here's our flag waving next to an historic Limestone church in Lemont, Illinois.

Lapstrake,

The lighthouse shot (2nd) is a classic worthy of framing. Looks like the lighthouse was moved to its current location, there's no sea/ocean nearby.

Thanks.

Selvin,

The lighthouse sits on a hill a few hundred yards from the shore of Lake Michigan. A newer lighthouse sits on a pier that reaches into the lake.

It was impossible to photograph this lighthouse with the lake behind since there are now buildings between the shore and the lighthouse.

Great shot!

....why do I wish the flag was blowing the opposite way though?....

I think most Americans visualize the flag with the star field in the upper left corner. When the flag is displayed indoors on a wall, it is proper for the field to be upper left. However, when hung from a pole outside, obviously there is no control over the orientation.

I like both of these shots. In the first shot, the building tends to give scale to the flag. As Selvin said, the second is a classic. Well done on both.

Excellent pic#2. It could make a great Christmas or postcard.

I suppose the flag could be "photoshop" the other way around for those who aren't used to seeing it point the other way.
