I've just re-edited my solar eclipse sequence from 1999, already used in this forum for a 'Circles' challenge in 2004, and now relevant again. In those olden days 600 pixel-wide images were the norm, so I'venewly inserted an 800-wide version, at...

It's maybe worth rereading for my French astronomer anecdote.

Note that these are all technically moon images, but being shots of its dark side, completely black, they're not very interesting, apart from the bits of sun around the outside.

BTW, Patrick Moore and 'The Sky at Night' are still going strong on BBC TV!

Alan, thanks for the eclipse sequence. I was looking for the orange glow when the eclipse was full until I realized it was a solar eclipse! I'll allow it since you captured the moon in silhouette!

I just tried to post this in response to your linked posting. I was very surprised to see a posting by Barbara Coultry but then I realized it was four years old!

Sorry, Cal, it was stupid of me not to realise that folk might reply to that thread. I experienced pangs of the heart strings when I tracked down the original location and read Barb's reply back then.

Apologies for misleading people. I didn't want to post the same image directly here again. I've done that often enough by accident already!
