Impossible not to appreciate the grandeur of these trees. I like the way the brightness of the day is emphasized with the sunlight on the upper half while almost none reaches the forest floor. It helps to emphasize the insignificance of man's contribution (the path) when compared with the trees. Nicely done.

Curmudgeon! Where on earth have you been hiding. Haven't seen you here for a "coon's age".

Is that one of the three parks (Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite) in the Sierra Nevada mountains? It looks like it might be Sequoia although it could also be the redwoods on the north coast of California.

Nice shot.

Cal

Thanks Paul, Mugmar and Carl. I have been doing some other stuff photographic wise that does not fit neatly into the categories here. I drop in and take a look now and again ... thanks for noticing I was gone.

This is shot on Howland Hill Road in Jedediah (sp) Redwood State Park in north California not far from the Oregon boarder. Of all the places in the redwood parks that one road is the most spectacular to me. It is not paved and not heavily travelled but once you see it .. you know you will be coming back.

Cheers,
Bill

As I said with Mugmar's shot, stunning! I especially love the ferns in the edges of the second one.

Don't see anything like these on the east coast.
