Summer is here at last (too hot for me, actually), with only a gentle breeze today. So I crossed the road for my annual poppy pilgrimage. 1/400s, f/8, ISO 100, 36mm equiv.

I'm delighted to see a bit of ordinary grass has clung on tenaciously despite the spraying, and outgrown the barley. Well done, that seed! I don't think eating its offspring will do anyone any harm.

Sadly, heavy rain is looming for the week ahead, as I set off on my holidays.

You've captured the seed heads perfectly, they almost look like feathers. Nice job.

I love the little bursts of color that the poppies provide. It's a beautiful and serene setting.

Alan, I love the low angle for these shots. Good eye.

Yes, Alan, it must be done at least once a year. What direction from your usual location?

Beautiful photographs. Full of beauty. And some of the seeds, above the rest of the congregation, gently bowing in a prayer to the allmighty sun. Avena sativa

Strong, Alan.

Best wishes

Torgny

Beautiful shots. Print some large prints of these and hang them on the wall.

The red red poppies in the green barley field in #1 reminded me Hyacinthus's blood shed onthe green field bythe result ofwind god Zephyrus's jealousy!

Ah, they should notnecessarily behyacinth flowers for me ; )
