I'll use any excuse I can to post pics I took in Hawaii last month. This is a cattle egret perched on the back of a horse in the lot next to my son's house.

From my son's front yard. Selvin, please correct me if I'm wrong on this flower since my son had no idea. I think this is a ginger flower, but whatever it was, it was beautiful.

Both are very nice, but I love the delicate feel of the flower shot. Nicely done! You even caught a Hawaiian ant there...maybe looking for a grass skirt. :-)

I find both shots to be exquisite! In the first shot, I couldn't figure out what the bird was standing on and then I read your caption again. Great capture.

in the second shot, I think the flower is Red Ginger although there are several varities of ginger that grow in the islands.

Paul,

See you were laboring in the fileds here.

The egret shot is lovely especially since I get the impression they can be skittish at times.

The second is indeed a variety of ginger, this appears to be the pink variety. A bit of trivia, all that color is really only bracts. The true ginger flower is tiny and white bursting out between the bracts.

Lovely work!

Aloha
