This snake was in the shadows so I had to shoot "wide open" to get a fast shutter speed. As you can see the result was a shallow depth of field.

Wow, outstanding shot. The only way you'd catch me that close to one of those things is with a strong piece of glass in between!

Having grown up around copperheads, I agree that it is apretty darn close up shot!Did you use any type of zoom lens to get such an amazingpicture?If no zooming,I hope you were VERY quiet in his near vicinity!

I think you're within the range of Bynx's coins in terms of shallowness of DOF.

Thanks. And yes there was a strong piece of glass between my and the snake.
My 180mm f/3.5 macro lens :blah:
