Hi all

For all you "sounds of music" fans out there.... Ok... seeing as my roses are not out in bloom... you'll see couldn't quite get the "roses" part! (if this is confusing for anyone - I'm referring to an old music film "the Sound of Music" (a film Julie Andrews played & sang in). One of the songs in this film is "Raindrops and Roses".

Anyway... onto the photos

This morning we had some rain which settled on some lucious green blades of grass in my garden, so I thought "that's a good opportunity to try some 'shalldow depth of field' photos for the challenge".

So that is what this first photo is about. Simple. Note that only the drops on one blade of grass (around the centre of the photo) are in focus. In front and behind of that, all is out of focus (oof).

And just a few centrimetres away, were a few small flowers which I decided to photograph also. This second photo shows that only one of the flowers is in focus, so the depth of field here is also very shallow.

I love how the flower which is in focus has a rain drop at the end, almost ready to fall off, and it appears to be shaped and has folds in it almost like an elegant evening dress.... (well that's my imagination.. I don't know if anyone else can see what I see!)

Note how the "hairs" (I'm sure there is a proper scientific word to describe these) are clear and in focus on the stem of the flower in focus too.

Looking forward to continued sharing!

regards

Paul

Hello Cal

I am very grateful for your most generous comments and feedback about these photos. Taken very much to heart. Thanks!

As it is good to take up the challenge and experiment and try with different kind of photography, I'm glad to have had the opportunity yesterday to do some "macro work", as the weather overall wasn't the most pleasant to go out for a bushwalk, as I had done the previous weekend.

I hope to post a few more photos in this challenge before it has run it's course.

Thanks

Paul

Patty,

thank you for your mutual agreeance with flutelady. I guess rain can be a good thing to help with certain challenges like this one!

Best wishes

Paul
