My husband and son are definitely two of my favorite things. In this picture, note my wonderful husband of 44 years is lugging my camera backpack for me.

Nice family portrait. I used to have a backpack like that but I outgrew it! I gave it to my wife and she outgrew it! Isn't it amazing how you accumulate camera gear?

Where was this shot? It looks a lot like the dunes between Florence and North Bend, Oregon.

I took these last week at the Great Sand Dunes National Park in Colorado. It's an amazing area comprising over 330 square miles with the highest sand dunes in North America--we climbed to the second highest point, over 700 feet. The sand is carried to this area by creeks and rivers and becomes trapped against the sangre de Cristo Mountains. The dunes have accumulated for thousands of years. The picture below shows a couple of people walking one of the ridges with the mountains in the background.

Yeah, yeah, I'm violating the 2 picture per post rule, but I can't resist adding this additional picture taken from the bottom of one section of the Dunes. Noting that the dots in the photo are actually people (and there were plenty of them there!) you get an idea of the size. Lots of temporary graffiti here and there. A very popular activity is saucer sledding or tobogganing down them, but I will restrain myself from posting that picture!

Looks like a beautful area, spedangie. Your first photo cracks me up as itlooks like your husband and son are ready to "drive" off somewhere in their pretend car.:-)

That is nice of your hubbie to carry your bag. You should keep him.

They DO look like they're in an invisible car! At that point they probably would have liked to have been in a dune buggy-it was a tough climb up.My husband is absolutely a "keeper". Throughout our Colorado trip both he and our son were SO patient to allow me to take bazillions of shots everywhere we went.

Great Sand Dunes is a fun place, but not a good place to change lenses!!!

Great shots. Give your hubby and son a plastic bag to sit on and watch them slide down the dunes!
