I got this one at the Provincetown breakwater on my way back from the point this weekend.

Canon 20D, 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L @ 400mm, f/14, 1/250s, ISO 200

From the photos I've seen, Great Blue Herons are not blue! I am wondering where the name comes from.

Hi Cal,
depending on the lighting, sometimes they look quite bluish.:-)

You're right they aren't as Blue as I thought but they are regal looking birds under any circumstance. Very nice job.
