I took 38 pictures of fairly solid colors which meet the parameters of the challenge. I combined them into a collage of a parrot. Its similar to the Italian flag nicely created by Selvin, just a little more complicated.

Did you use photomosaic software to create this? If so, what program and is it freely available on the web or was it purchased. With 23,000 photos in my database I think I could create some excellent mosaics given the right software. I did a web search about a year ago and came up with at least three different programs but none was very highly rated. They ranged from difficult to use to very slow.

I've done this before using some free, downloadable software. My favorite was using horticultural pictures...the final image looked picasso-ish. My main PC has a blue screen at the moment so i dont have access to my pictures but i did have the address to the site i used.

Bynx...that first image is perfect. VERY nicely done.

as an aside...photomosaics was originally created by Robert Silvers who happens to be a graduate of the very small (under 200 students) grades 7-12
school where my children attend. There is one of his originals hanging in the library...an image of the school, or course.

My favorite picture by Robert Silvers is a photo of Marilyn Monroe he did using an assortment of Playboy covers. This was, of course, for a cover for Playboy magazine. It hangs on one of my walls.

I believe that is one of his most famous works. I like his Abe Lincoln, too.

Vanessa, thanks for the link. The AndreaMosaic program is just TOO cool. I've been playing with it for the last couple of hours. I can think of all kinds of possibilities--just beginning to play with them.

Thanks Yesterday. I added a few pictures of my kids portraits, adding some skintones to the pot. This is the new improved Selvin.
