This young man starts to plough his own furrow, tutored by, (I guess) a grandfather and a great uncle. They're keeping the skills going, while embracing some new technology in the process.

The fields across the road host an annual ploughing match. In a few weeks' timethe whole area will be ploughed in a day by a modern computer-assisted tractor.

Note the whitegulls visible against the hill beyond, waiting for a worm feast later. They must have the date in their diaries. We're 15 miles from the sea, and miles from any landfill sites.

How long would have it taken to plough this field this way?
