Thanks Bynx and welcome back.

Now if I can just get a handle on the DOF, the Buds in the back are not as sharp as they should have been.

You have found a perfect submission for the challenge. As for the depth of field, it could be improved.

One simple way to control DOF is to place the camera in Aperture Priority mode (or whatever it is called on your camera). This allows you to control the aperture setting manually while the computer controls the shutter speed. Set your aperture to f16, f22, or f32 (if your lens supports it) and your DOF will increase significantly. This setting can result in a slow shutter speed so a tripod is highly recommended.

I like the colors, nice catch... but I have to agree with Cal - I'd love to see another shot with a DOF that isolates the 3+1 combo in a better way from the background.

Took that shot while getting everyone into the car to go to lunch, should have taken more time and useda tripod. Shot it a f5.6 which I thought would give enough DOF, guess I need to go back a redo my math. Wanted to burr the background but F 5.6 was to shallow should have use f8.0 or f11 like CAL stated in the above post.

LOL! Ok - let me give you an advise... don't carry your tripod around on your way to lunch next time even when you shoot pics for a challenge :Gor else we won't see pics from you here for a long, long time

If the blossoms are spread out like this it won't be easy to get a perfect DOF... good luck!

Very nice shot. The color and detail in the flower are great.

Calicajun,

True they would have benefited from being closer together but many times you got to roll the dice with what you've got.

Nice detail in the foreground flower.

Aloha
