Title: High Key High Key

This is my first ever post in the Biweekly Shoot Out so please be nice.

As soon as I saw this one I had an idea what I wanted to do do but wasn't quite sure how to get it done. Today I decided to give it a bash using a mirror on my bed with the key sat on top and then the background is my white ceiling. I blew this out by using the 580EX flash and the key was then illuminated by the bounced light.

I was going to just put the key on white paper but then to blow this out would make the key a lot lighter than I wanted so needed some separation.

Fantastic! Brilliant on two levels (geddit?).

I feel honoured by your attendance, and I'm sure our transatlantic friends and those further flung will feel the same when they wake up !

Thanks Alan, but honestly I'm just a normal shooter here.

I've decided that I need to challenge myself more (I've made a post about New Year Resolutions in Critiques and Techniques) so actually getting out and shooting something different is going to help in that. I often check out the Biweekly Shoot Out section but have never had a bash so hopefully that this won't be my lasttry at this.

Welcome, Mark. It's good to have you here. Alan put it well, your key works on both visual and linguistic levels. I hope you'll become a regular here.

Nice job, Mark. It has an almost poster look to it.

I, also, would like to welcome you to the forum. Now that you have shown yourself, no more lurking!! LOL
