These are a copy of the Famous Ghiberti Doors in Italy. They are at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco and one of the must see attractions.

Very beautiful workmanship. I would have liked to have seen the second photo in the posting as a close-up on the detail on one of the panels.

I'll have to check those out next time I'm up there.

I remember when church doors were always open, inviting folks to come in and pray, meditate, whatever. Now, you rarely every see a church door wide open except on Sundays.

Most of the other door to the Cathedral are always open but these are used only on very special occasions. They are quite beautiful.

Beautiful, Caryl. I, too, would like to see a close up of one of the panels. That is one beautiful door.

Caryl,

These are outstanding. Ghiberti's work stands the test of time, even in our modern hi-tech age.

Thank you for the details it adds even more impact to the original shot.

Great shots, Caryl. I have never seen Grace Cathedral although I have been in Oakland many times. A former organist at the cathedral, Richard Purvis, has written some outstanding organ music of which I am very familiar.
