The sun came out and the sky cleared for a short time so I when out after work to try and get some shots of the town. I wanted to get a shot overlooking the town with Mt. Baker in the background.

So I drove looking to get to the top of the hill that over looks the town. I took some driving around windy roads to find the top. At the top sitting on small rise is a platform with a pyramid shaped monument. I walked to the base to see if I had a shot. No good the trees were in the way. I went up the steps onto the platform still no good but I could see that if I could just get a little higher it would be good. I tried climbing up 2-3 levels of the pyramid. That was better but no good enough. I climbed some more looking over my shoulder ever 2-3 levels. At about the top I could see over my shoulder that I had a good shot.

There is nothing to hang on to so I carefully started to turn around and looked down. WHOA!!! This is steep and a LONG way DOWN! This suddenly made my short list of stupid things that if I get out of this I am NEVER doing again.

But as was already up here I took the photo. The first photo is of some of Everett with Mt. Baker in the background.

After I crawled down I decided to look for some place more sedate. Some place I could sit on a park bench, watch the ship slowly sale by, the kits and the kids crash. The second photo is of the Everett home port and CVN-72. Maybe not as interesting as the first but I don't have to worry about my legs shaking.
