As we come to the end of this fortnight, I'm having to scrape the barrel for subjects, or even plumb the depths. Today we hopped into the deep-sea submersible for an outing to the bottom of the north-west Atlantic. It's a long way down, so the lighting's a bit of a problem...

If we'd been a few hours earlier, we might have got this upwards shot on the surface, but it was dark at the time, so lighting was still rather difficult...

Remarkable photos, Alan, despite fighting the lighting. What is it that we're looking at? At what depth?
