This pretty little tree is actually the tip of a bit of moss that blew off our roof on to the back yard the other day, and it's about 15mm high.

I discovered that the best camera we have for macro closeups is my son's 5 year old, 4 Mpix SanyoS4, with a closest focusing distance of 20mm. My two superzooms are relatively useless. In the original this bit was about half the height of the frame. Exposure, over which I had no control, was 1/1634s at f/4.2 .

Hope to do better before close of play tomorrow.

Alan,

That almost looks edible. Good example of what you can do with modest equipment.

Good work, Alan. That piece of flora looks much larger that its actual size of about 5.9 inches (for those of you who don't speak metric!) That older camera did a good job.

A decimal point's worth smaller than that, Cal!

"Thous? Gee, there must be millions of 'em in an inch!"

You're right, Alan! I was thinking centimeters. 15mm is about 0.59 inches. That makes the photo even more spectacular.
