The top part is throwing me off a bit because it looks so scalloped. I'm guessing that it's the nut on a guitar neck and this is a picture of the first fret.

Yes, it's my son's "Ibanez RG series" instrument. If you hadn't already provided the word, I was going to say it was called the "nut" on a violin, which I know better.

Alan,

Dunlop, a name from the past. I thought they used to make excellent tires with the famed dogleg pattern but you're right they seem to have reached out into the music world.

Very nice clarity.
