Default Long Exposure

I was planning to go downtown tonight and try for some interesting shots of traffic, but I happened to hear a couple of my students talking about a small carnival that had set up on the grounds of the local airport. I immediately thought "Rides!"

The ride is the venerable "Octopus," versions of which have been around since I was a kid. Photo details: Pentax K20d, Tamron 28-75 Di LD lens, Shutter Priority mode @ 1/2 sec....ISO 500....f/29.0.

Second shot is a ride whose name I don't know....but the passenger compartments are secured by chains (sort of like swings)...They can be seen in the outer blur...lots of lights on the inner core

1 second exposure at f/29.0....ISO 500....Shutter priority mode.

I thought about cloning out the light on the lower left, but decided I kind of liked it, even if it does pull the eyes away somewhat.

Only processing on both shots was unsharp mask.

Paul, Both are cool shots. The first looks like a reflection in a windshield. The second looks like one of those toy spinning tops.

Yes indeed, a windshield reflection. But nice shot. Interesting abstract shape of light. The second shot is nice for its symmetrical shape. The light, while bright, was a part of the scene and is, to me, a welcome addition. Well done.

Awesome! As I mentioned in one of your other posts, carnival rides are a great source of photographic interest.

Paul,

The first one is fantastic. A very good abstract formation. I presume you wouldn't except that, that swing would make such a beautiful image.
BTW, 1/2 sec. shutter speed served very well where longer or shorter would miss that effect.

Besides the images quality I admired your mind as well.

Paul,
You've outdone yourself. Great examples of painting with light.
