I just happened to be working on this when I saw the new topic.

this is a great image! it looks like there could be more light sources on either side of the arch in the center?

Good eye Greg. There is a light on each side where the arch meets the vertical. On the very back wall there is a hidden light on each side which gives a soft glow from the bottom. The room can be seen in full color in the Comments and Criticism thread.

Great job, Bynx. Thanks for kicking off the new challenge. Did you use layers or some variation of my posted procedure. I am sure everyone, myself included, would like to know how you did it.

I just made a dup layer, then desaturated the base layer and used the eraser on the full color dup layer.
