Default Selective Color-Red Wing & Yellow Wing

My wife really liked this Red-wing Black bird, but then her favorite colors are red and black so there you go. She also likes the butterfly on the black-eyed Susan.
This has been a really good challenge. It has given me the opportunity to really look critically at a photo to try and see an alternative way of presenting the picture.
Thanks.

Monarch Butterfly. I have another version of this picture with the flower's color also removed. I liked this one better.

Here is the other version with the flower desaturated. Let me know what you think? It seems to me that removing the color from the petals causes them to loose all detail and depth. They look flat, lifeless and not very natural.

This is because all the detail in the flower petals is strictly in the green channel of the image. Indeed, there is actually more detail in that channel than in the full color image. If your image processor allows you to look at the individual channels you'll see what I mean.

Ya I agree with ya. There have been many responses to this challenge and its a photo manipulation one. I hope Cal is paying attention to that and doesnt wait until the next Blue Moon to have another.
Love that butterfly shot. Fits in here just perfectly.
