Our cat was sitting on our bed and I noticed his ears glowing in the sunlight. For them to glow like that well... they are probably more translucent than transparent.

Wow! Those look more like the ears of a bat! You are correct, however, in that the ears are translucent. It's an outstanding shot, regardless.
