Default Seasonal Change: A Flower Among Dried Leaves

My wife and I visited one of our favorite places today, the Brookfield Zoo, which is just a short drive west of Chicago. We still have about another month of Fall, and most of the leaves are down at this point. But the temps have been pretty mellow, and there are still some small, pretty flowers to see in certain places.

Beautifully done!
Great job composing the flower against the background.

California Poppies can grow almost any where. They are great shots!

Thank you, Bynx, Cal, Selvin and SharpShotGal. I was surprised at the number of small flowers still doing well at the zoo. Not that many, but I expected none. I took a number of shots and deleted most of them - this was by far the best one.

Thanks, Calicajun. To be honest, I didn't know what type of plant this was until SharpShotGal and you mentioned it.

I guess the zoo imports more than just animals! After your comment I did a quick search and found that these don't do well in places that get below 20-degrees F. If so, maybe this is just a one-time planting.
